Signs of Emerging Markets Turnaround
Earnings season points to emerging market strength for these stocks.
Signs of the Emerging Markets Leading the World out of Recession
- Caterpillar (CAT) - boosted its 2009 profit forecast citing the estimated $1.7 trillion being pumped into infrastructure around the world; in particular the Company cited China and its significant increase in machine deliveries versus last year.
- Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold (FCX) - company saw an improvement in the copper market driven by increased demand from China; copper sales rose by 17%.
- Millicom International Cellular (MICC) - a leader in supplying mobile phone service to emerging and frontier markets; number of subscribers rose by 25% over last year.
- PowerShares Emerging Markets Infrastructure ETF (PXR) - a way for investors to play the $1.7 trillion that will be spent around the world on infrastructure. Invests in China (20%), Russia (11%), Brazil (9%), etc.
